The majority of my clients that come to see me for maternity portraits want to take their session outdoors. We live in the gorgeous Pacific Northwest and are surrounded by so much greenery and beauty! But, we also live in Seattle and the weather can be unpredictable and in the wintertime, downright dreary and grey. This is where having a nice big studio really becomes a great option for getting out of the cold and the rain. Sharing a few of my favorites from Kathreen’s studio maternity session.
I love being a Puyallup newborn baby photographer! I recently had the privilege of photographing an adorable tiny little baby girl who is the daughter of someone that I have known for a very long time. It was such a pleasure meeting the family and snuggling this little sweetheart. I decided to share some favorites from her session and have only chosen black and white images since I rarely show them and I love how they all came out. We incorporated some soft colors that converted beautifully to black and white and they deserve to be seen.

Camilla came in for her mini wrapped newborn session when she was 7 weeks old. I don’t photograph wrapped newborn sessions very often, but they’re perfect for babies that are just outside of the timeframe when I typically photograph babies. Wrapped sessions are for baby only, with limited setups, and usually last about 45 minutes. Miss Camilla’s session was truly perfect. I was able to take some detailed photos of her beautiful little features, and overall capture a stunning variety of images. I’m sharing a few of my favorites below including macro photos which I now take during every session and some black and whites that I’m starting to fall more and more in love with.

I always like to begin my newborn portrait sessions by photographing the family. I do this for a couple of reasons. One, the heat. I like to keep it nice and warm in my studio to keep babies comfortable when they’re in their birthday suits so the studio tends to get warmer as the session goes on. By photographing the family first, it allows clients to get comfortable for the duration of the session. Two, it’s a great way to get the baby nice and comfortable. It also determines the session flow. Either we start with naked poses or we start with wrapped poses and then things move along from there. Whenever I meet a new family, if there aren’t any other siblings, I ask if they would prefer to have the baby naked or wrapped for the family portion. Little miss Nevaeh was perfectly content being all snuggled with mom and dad in her birthday suit. She slept so good for the rest of her session and gave us a beautiful gallery of images. I loved the little angel wings that they brought in to use during the session, too. The colors we used were absolutely perfect. Sharing a few of my favorites below. i believe...
every photograph tells a story. capturing moments that would otherwise be forgotten. moments that can not be replicated or reproduced. moments that that are unique in meaning to every person who sees them. moments that you can not get back.
a photograph allows you the opportunity to relive those moments over and over again. these moments shape the story of our lives, and everyone has a story to tell.
let me help you tell yours.
